Norway Political system

Norway Norway - a constitutional monarchy. King liaises between the three branches of government. Hereditary monarchy, and in 1990 the throne passes to the eldest son or daughter, while Princess Meurthe-Louise was an exception to this rule. Officially, the king carries all the political appointments, be present at all ceremonies and lead (along with the Crown Prince) formal weekly meetings of the State Council (government). Executive power is vested in the Prime Minister, acting on behalf of the king. The Cabinet consists of the Prime Minister and 16 ministers, heads of relevant departments. The Government is collectively responsible for policies, even though every minister has the right to publicly dissent on one issue or another. Members of the Cabinet of Ministers approved by the majority party or coalition in parliament - the Storting. They may participate in the parliamentary debate, but have no voting rights. Posts are public servants are granted after passing a competitive examination.
