Budva - the main center of tourism in Montenegro. This is a beautiful ancient town with narrow streets, small squares, fabulous houses with tile roofs, numerous cafes, restaurants and shops. Attractions

The main attraction of Budva Old Town is a complex, surrounded by ramparts. Situated on a peninsula jutting sharply into the sea, it is a corner of a typical Venetian and Mediterranean architecture. Despite the devastating earthquake of 1979, by 1987 the old town was completely rebuilt. The old city is surrounded by high walls, erected in the XV century before the Turkish invasion. The walls are reinforced by several towers, and is located in the center of the citadel. In the citadel is now a museum, and next to it are three ancient churches. The Church of St. Ivan built in the VII century, the subsequent adjustment continued until the XVII century. The bell tower of the church is the architectural centerpiece of the city. The Church of the Virgin Mary was built in 840, it is the only structure surviving from the monastery had once existed here. Holy Trinity Church was built in 1804, is an Orthodox church built in the typical Byzantine style.

Here are preserved seaside citadel (XV century), the gates, several old churches (from VIII to XVIII centuries). The vast majority of believers in Budva are Orthodox Christians. In the city and its surroundings there are many Orthodox churches and monasteries Podostrog, Rezhevichi, Stanevich, Gradisti. The Catholic community in Budva was founded before the Orthodox, and in the city there are still Catholic churches, including the famous church of St. Ivan.

Summer in the Old Town is a music festival - "Song of Mediterranean" (in late June). This brings together the best Serbian, Montenegrin and European classical music. Instead of Budva in the bay are small resorts: Becici, Milocher and island-hotel Sveti Stefan. Becici, a small resort town, is located 4 miles from the center of Budva and 1,5 km from the town Rafailovici. This resort is famous for its golden fully equipped, 2 km long, which won the "Grand Prix" in 1936 in Paris, as the best in Europe. This beach is the landing pad for paragliders, start with an array Brajić at 760 m above Budva.

The small resort town of Petrovac is located 17 km from Budva in the picturesque bay. The rock, forming a natural bay, preserved Venetian castle Castello XVI century. Archaeologists discovered near the town of Roman mosaics III-IV century BC. 4 km to the east of Petrovac is an old monastery with frescoes Hradiste late Middle Ages (first mentioned in the XIV century).
