Borovets, Bulgaria Borovets, originally known as the hunting grounds of the Bulgarian aristocracy, now more famous as the best ski resort in Bulgaria, the venue of many sporting events. Championships at the World Championship in Alpine skiing were held here in 1981 and 1984. And in 1983 - Biathlon World Championships.

Located at an altitude of 1350 m above sea level, on the northern slopes of Rila mountain range, the resort lies at the foot of the peak Mussala - the highest point on the Balkan Peninsula (2925 m).
