Brazil Money

The monetary unit in Brazil is real = 100 centavos. There are banknotes in denominations of 1,5,10,50,100 reals and coins - in 1 real, 1,5,10,50 penny. International credit cards are accepted in hotels and some shops.

You can exchange foreign currency in banks (the most favorable rate), exchange points for travel agencies and shopping centers, hotels (U.S. only), airport. Banks are open from Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 15:00. Exchange offices generally operate from 9:00 to 17:30.
